Copper strip used in battery connection applications must balance conductivity, mechanical strength, dimensional accuracy and processing stability. For buyers, the key is not only selecting a material grade, but also confirming thickness, width, tolerance, surface condition, hardness and packaging before quotation.

Why conductivity is important

Battery connection parts need stable current transmission. Higher conductivity helps reduce electrical resistance, heat generation and energy loss in connection areas. Pure copper is commonly considered when conductivity is the main requirement. Brass or high-performance copper alloy may be selected when buyers need better strength, forming performance, spring performance or cost balance.

  • Pure copper: commonly used when electrical conductivity is the first priority.
  • Brass: suitable for applications that need machinability, formability or a balance between conductivity and mechanical strength.
  • High-performance copper alloy: used when the part needs better strength, softening resistance, spring performance or long-term stability.

Thickness, width and tolerance

Thickness and width directly affect stamping, bending, assembly and current carrying performance. Tight tolerance helps reduce variation during stamping and automated assembly. When buyers only provide a product name without tolerance requirements, the supplier may not be able to judge whether standard stock tolerance is enough. RFQ documents should state thickness, width, length or coil ID, tolerance, edge condition and required temper.

Surface, burr and hardness control

Surface oxidation can affect appearance, contact performance and subsequent plating or welding. Burrs may influence assembly safety, insulation clearance and connection reliability. Hardness and temper affect bending, stamping and springback. For battery connection parts, buyers should communicate whether the material will be stamped, bent, welded, plated or assembled under pressure.
